Nirmala will also be visiting the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh region to assess the security situation there. Nirmala is accompanied by Army chief General Bipin Rawat.
Nirmala is expected to meet various army officers and take stock of the overall security situation in the Kashmir Valley. She will be reviewing various initiatives such as counter-insurgency and counter-infiltration operations being undertaken in the Kashmir Valley. She will also be meeting with Governor NN Vohra and Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti. It is also possible that Nirmala may visit the Siachen Base Camp, which is the highest military post in the world. It is the most dangerous and one of the remotest regions in the world. It is also possible that Nirmala may conduct an aerial survey of the Siachen region. The final decision will be taken based on weather conditions.
