Even when it may increase the risk of a political meltdown, the Nitish Kumar led JD (U) has decided to take a tough stand against corruption. Announcing its intent in relation to the corruption cases filed against Tejashwi Yadav, son of former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, the JD (U) said that corruption cases fall within the purview of public domain. Speaking at a press conference today, JD (U) leader Neeraj Kumar said, “We know how to follow the coalition dharma, but we do hope that those facing allegations will put all the facts in public domain.” This strong statement comes in the wake of increasing demands to remove Tejashwi from the Bihar cabinet.
It is learned that RJD has been given four days’ time to decide whether or not Tejashwi will continue in the Bihar cabinet. Sources said that the tough stance taken by JD (U) has further strained relations between the coalition partners. RJD leaders feel that Nitish Kumar would like to maintain his clean image, which is why his party has taken a tough stand in Tejashwi’s case. “Zero tolerance on corruption and good governance has been Nitish Kumar’s USP and there can be no compromise on these,” JD (U) general secretary Sanjay said.
