While addressing a rally in Kanpur, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati said that there cannot be any possibility of any type of tie-up with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after the UP assembly elections. She also said that her party had done quite well in the first phase of UP polls, something that is making the BJP uneasy. She added that she would prefer to sit in the opposition rather than take BJP’s help to form the government in UP.
Mayawati also talked about the other agendas that the party has planned. One of the agendas is to rename Kanpur, a decision that was earlier overturned by the Samajwadi government. She urged the people to vote for BSP, so that the party can get absolute majority to form the government in UP. She said that there will not be any fake inaugurations in her government and that she will work to solve the problems of every caste and community.
Mayawati also discussed the Samajwadi Party’s laptop scheme, saying that it was just a marketing gimmick. She said that students need to be provided financial assistance, so that they can use it as per their requirement. She also talked about creating more jobs in the state and eliminating the land mafia. She said that criminals belonging to Samajwadi Party will be put in jail and those arrested in false cases would be given the opportunity to establish their innocence.
