The Supreme Court (SC) today has cleared its stance on the most advertised case in recent history of Sahara Diaries. It stopped all the rumors related to this case where probes have been demanded by many politicians of the BJP’s opposition parties.
The SC has categorically denied any probe by any Special Investigation Team (SIT) in the Sahara Diaries case. This case has become too much politically sensitive since it involves Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well as chief ministers of various states. The SC said that the case doesn’t have enough evidences.
The court has said that if any investigation is ordered in such cases where the evidences are inadmissible evidence, the functionality of constitution will be questioned.
The court had its first hearing about this case on November 14 and it was said that due to lack of evidence, a probe cannot be ordered. Today one more hearing happened as a new affidavit was filed by Prashant Bhushan, which seeks a court-monitored investigation.
The Sahara diaries have been seized by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Income Tax (IT) department 2013-14 raids at the offices of Sahara’s and Birla’s. The case has created huge controversy in the politics of India and opposition parties are trying to utilize this opportunity to gain political advantage in the upcoming elections in five states.
