Karnataka State police chief R K Dutta on Saturday clarified that neither police nor any government department has imposed restrictions for conducting Ganesha festivities in the state.
Police have been asking for Rs 10 lakh deposit as surety to organize the festivities at public places in Haveri district and curbing use of sound systems.
The DG&IGP said police will take security measures as per requirement.
Like every year, bandobust will be the responsibility of the district administration and the superintendent of police or the commissioner.
The guidelines for festivities like peace meetings among community leaders, restrictions on bursting crackers and deployment of volunteers during processions will remain the same, he added.
Dutta said the police beat system, which was streamlined recently , is getting good response.
At present, cops are using their personal cellphones to communicate with seniors and residents of their respective jurisdictions.
A proposal has been sent to the government to provide them with free sim cards, he added.
