Detailing the positive effects of note ban, the government said today that it has played a critical role in controlling terrorists and Maoists. Speaking about the benefits of note ban, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said today that note ban has cut off the funds to separatists in the Kashmir valley and to Maoists in other parts of the country. Jaitley said that earlier there used to be huge crowds of thousands of protesters who used to throw stones. But, now the stone pelting crowd has thinned considerably. Jaitley said that earlier, thousands of people used to throw stones, but now only around 25 people can be seen throwing stones in various locations in Kashmir valley.
“After demonetization, separatists in Jammu and Kashmir and also Maoists in states like Chhattisgarh have become fund starved,” Jaitley said. Jaitley was speaking at an event that was organized by Ashish Shelar, the Mumbai BJP president. The event was also attended by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Jaitley also talked about the various other achievements of the Modi-led NDA government. He talked about GST, telecom reforms, utilization of insolvency and bankruptcy code, etc. Jaitley said that the government is ready to take tough decision in the interest of the nation.
