May 1 is labhour day and celebrated across the world, however, this year, Haryana government will not celebrate Labour Day on May 1 and will not organise any gathering.
Haryana’s Labour Minister Nayab Singh Saini said that state government has decided not to rejoice Labour day on May 1 this year, instead of May 1, the state will celebrate it on Vishwakarma Day. Vishwakarma Day is a day which comes after Deepawali.
He was talking about the worker’s welfare schemes run by state government. He added that there will not be any function or programme on May 1, citing the importance of Vishwakarma day, he said that Vishwakarma is the maker of the world and to keep something in their memory, we decided on this.
This year is the golden jubilee of the state and on the celebration of Labour Day on Vishwakarma day; the state will give some 60,000 sewing machines to women workers who are listed with labour department.
The function will be huge and it will price around Rs 27 crore.
Satbir Singh, president of Citu’s Haryana unit said that state government (BJP party) wishes to distract the responsiveness of labourers from the actual subjects and government has bad intentions. He also said that May 1 is celebrated as Labour day in memory of workers’ struggles.
