Bank of Baroda: The loan product is called ‘Baroda Vidya’ and it is applicable for school education from Nursery to Class XII. Bank of Baroda has some beneficial features, as it does not charge any processing fees for this loan. The loan can be taken for any child who has secured admission to a recognized school. Girl students will benefit more, as there’s a 0.50 percent concession in interest rate applicable on the loan. The maximum loan amount allowed in this scheme is Rs4 lakh. The loan will be issued in the name of father/mother and will be disbursed directly to the school.
Tamilnad Mercantile Bank (TMB): The loan product is called ‘Short Term Study Loan’ and it is meant for children who want to get education in reputed institutions. One of the best features about this loan is that the interest rate charged is less than the prevailing prime lending rate. The loan is applicable for school education up toClass XII. Parents taking this loan will have to provide proof of income and letter from the employer certifying the take home salary. The maximum loan amount is Rs 25,000 or 3 months gross salary of the parent, whichever is lower.
