National Conference leader Omar Abdullah snubbed the PM’s Independence Day speech where the PM has said that the issue can be resolved only through peace and talks rather than bullets and abuses. PM called all the citizens to come together to address the issues plaguing the nation.
“Actually he said the Kashmir issue will not be resolved by abuse and bullets. I guess that covers both sides – terrorists and security forces,” Omar Abdullah tweeted. He also took a dig on PM’s Black Money and Demonetisation remarks which has led to the forceful disclosure of unaccounted money by many. Abdullah said sarcastically that the availability of figures highlights that the Reserve Bank of India completed the counting of demonetised currency notes.
Strongly condemning the rise of terrorism, Prime Minister Modi assured that while national security remains the top priority of the Centre, no leeway will be given to terrorists.
To avoid any unforeseen events in the terror hit state, internet and mobile phone services were suspended in Kashmir with only the BSNL landline services being functional said an official. The precautionary measure was taken on account of Independence Day. The service given by all other service providers were suspended and will be resumed tomorrow.
