In what would give the President of Turkey, Tayyip Erdogan, an unlimited power which may lead to the rule of a dictatorship – the referendum that was seeked for this effect was declared successful with the President winning at a very thing margin. He got 51.3% of the total votes polled.
This was much lesser that what was expected for the ruling AK Party which has aggressively campaigned in Istanbul, Izmir and Ankara. The campaign was divided into Yes and No.
The oppositions cried foul and said they would appeal through legal ways to challenge the decision of this narrow victory as they accused the President of rigging the numbers to his favour.
