The police have arrested all the accused who have been named as suspects in the FIR filed in connection with the deaths of more than 60 children at a hospital at Gorakhpur. In the latest action, the police have arrested the owner of the company that was given the contract to supply oxygen to the state-run Baba Raghav Das Medical College in Gorakhpur. The owner of Pushpa Sales was arrested today by the police. There have been allegations that the owner Manish Bhandari had cut off oxygen supply to the hospital since his dues were not paid by the hospital. Meanwhile, Pushpa Sales had maintained that it had sent various notices to the hospital to pay its dues, but the hospital did not respond to the notices and did not clear the dues. However, the state government denies that the deaths had occurred due to shortage of oxygen.
The police arrested Manish Bhandari from Deoria bypass today. Currently, Bhandari is undergoing medical examination and he will be interrogated once he is certified to be fit. After initial interrogation, he will be produced in a local court. With the arrest of Bhandari, all 9 people accused in the case have been arrested. It may be recalled that Bhandari has been absconding for a long time. He was declared an absconder on September 15 by the anti-corruption court and orders were issued to attach his various properties.
