In what has been its evergreen strategy, Pakistan yet again accused India of violating ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC). Pakistan today also summoned India’s Deputy High Commissioner in Islamabad JP Singh in connection with its accusations of ceasefire violations along the LoC. However, such claims have been rubbished by India. The Indian government clearly told Pakistan that it was Pakistani forces that first started firing along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir. The firing by Pakistani forces is sometimes random whereas at other times, it is meant to give cover to militants who are trying to enter India. India also told Pakistan that it had only responded to the firing by Pakistani troops.
A statement issued by the Indian High Commissioner read, “It was conveyed to DG South Asia that the ceasefire violations were initiated by Pak troops in Poonch and Krishnaghatti sectors today and the Indian forces only responded appropriately. A strong protest was also over the death of 2 Indian civilians in today’s ceasefire violations by Pak troops.” Due to firing and mortar shelling by Pakistani troops, an Indian couple died today. Some children were also injured during the firing and mortar shelling by Pakistani troops.
