Due to the Indo-Pak tensions during the uri attack and the surgical attack, there were strict norms and judgement passed on the screening of Bollywood movies in Pakistan. But after the four months long time, finally the government has given a nod to lift the ban. And this might be legalized, with the release of both Hrithik’s Kaabil and SRK’s Raees.
There are rumours that due to the ban, the Pakistani cinema owners were facing major financial losses and if it continued, they might have to shut their business. As per the media reports – The cinema owners started lobbying the government to go soft on Indian films, prompting the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to set up a committee last week to consult all stake holders.
According to sources in the information ministry, the committee led by Minister of State for Information Maryam Aurangzeb and Sharif’s advisor Irfan Siddiqui has made the recommendations to the PM’s Secretariat to lift the ban.
