Pakistani authorities have arrested an Indian national in Islamabad on charges that he had entered the country illegally and was staying there illegally. The Indian national has been identified as Sheikh Nabi Ahmed and it is alleged that he was found to be travelling without any document such as visa papers. It has been claimed that the man comes from Jogeshwari East in Mumbai. Pakistani authorities have arrested the man and have charged him under the Foreigners Act 1946. The man has been sent to a jail for judicial remand.
Sources revealed that the man was arrested when he was walking along Nazimuddin Road in Sector F-8. Pakistani security personnel stationed near a check post spotted him and asked him who he was and other details. It was only after the man was questioned that he revealed that he was an Indian national. The Pakistani authorities then asked him to show his visa documents, but the man said that he does not have any such documents. Since he failed to furnish the details, the Pakistani authorities arrested him on charges of illegally entering and staying in the country.
However, an official communication from the Indian High Commission in Pakistan said that they have not received any information about the arrest of an alleged Indian national.
