In year 2016, as a minimum one website was hacked every alternate day said by Home Ministry in the Parliament today, these website are run by government. This reveals dangerous safety susceptibility in a country trying to slow down the digital approach.
MHA told to the Parliament that website of the NSG (National Security Guard) lead security terror force of India, was spoiled as recently as 1 January 2017 by unknown hackers and immediately NSG website was blocked by Computer Emergency Response Team.
As per MHA about 199 websites of the government were hacked in 2016 which are higher number compare to past. Giving detail of earlier website hacking, MHA said 189 in 2013, 165 in 2014 and, 164 in 2015 websites were hacked. At present all Government websites are supervised by National Informatics Centre (NIC). NIC is the government agency leading “e-Governance applications” and is also the key promoter of “digital opportunities” and economy.
