At first, Haryana BJP chief Subhash Barala’s son Vikas Barala was charged with stalking and drunk driving, which are bailable offenses. And Vikas and his friend Ashish had got bail for those offences on the same day they were charged. But now, the Chandigarh police have added the charge of attempt to kidnap against Vikas Barala. Vikas was called today to the police station for questioning, and initially it seemed that he would not come. However, he did reach the police station, but it was three hours after the deadline given by the police. Nonetheless, since the attempt to kidnap charge has been slapped against Vikas Barala, he was arrested by the Chandigarh police today.
Vikas’ father Subhash Barala said that they are fully cooperating with the police and the law will take its own course. Varnika Kundu, the girl who filed the complaint, had said that her car was tailgated, and Vikas and Ashish had tried to forcefully open the door of her car. The police are saying that there is no pressure from BJP to protect the leader’s son. Senior police officer Tejinder Luthra said that the police have collected sufficient evidence to proceed with the case. Meanwhile, BJP has dismissed the idea of Subhash Barala’s resignation since the case involved his son and not him.
