Just around two weeks earlier, police officer Shreshtha Thakur of Syana in Bulandshahr district had challenged the authority of local BJP leader in connection with the request to not impose fine on a BJP worker. A video of the incident had gone viral and there were protests on social media regarding the strong arm tactics being used by BJP leaders. Now, as around 2 weeks have passed, the state government has transferred her to Bahraich district where she will have the same designation as earlier, that of a Circle Officer. It may be recalled that Thakur is a 2012 batch Provincial Police Service (PPS) officer.
However, Thakur is not the only one who has been transferred. She is just one among the 244 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) who have been transferred by the state government. Thakur’s argument had happened with BJP’s Syana city president Mukesh Bhardwaj. A BJP worker was found driving a motorcycle without any documents, number plate and helmet, and Thakur wanted to fine him. However, this was challenged by Bhardwaj, which led to the argument. Meanwhile, after her transfer order, Thakur posted on Facebook that her transfer is because of her god work and she accepts it as a reward.
