New Delhi, 3 October 2014: Indian Women Hockey team after bagging the Bronze medal at the 17thAsian Games 2014 in Incheon, Republic of Korea, arrived at New Delhi today and was received with a grand welcome by Hockey India, fans and their friends at the Indira Gandhi International Airport.
With an urge to bag a medal, the team showcased exceptional on-field performance and finished the tournament with a Bronze and adding glory to the country at Incheon. This performance will further help the team to perfect their skills and prepare them for upcoming challenges on the International platform.
Congratulating and welcoming the team, Hockey India Secretary General Dr. Narinder Batra said, “It’s a proud moment for the country that our Women team has won the bronze medal at the 17th Asian Games 2014. Each player of the team contributed towards this glory and I am proud of this team and wish them continued success in the future”
Speaking on the Bronze win, Captain Ritu Rani said, “The entire team is ecstatic by this win. When we lost our semi-final match, we were adamant to take the Bronze home by beating Japan. I am happy that we played with elan and won the match. We will aim to continue this form and better ourselves in our performances in the future.”
