New Delhi, 21 October 2014: Amidst much fan following, being received by their family and friends and being welcome wholeheartedly by the media, the Indian Junior Men Hockey Team post retaining the Title of the Sultan of Johor Cup arrived at the IGI Airport, New Delhi yesterday late night.
Being applauded for their stint at the 4th Sultan of Johor Cup, which was held at Johor Bahru, Malaysia from 12 October – 19 October 2014, the Indian Junior Men Hockey Team was seen in high spirits at their arrival in New Delhi. The team was appreciated for their astounding display of team work as well as implementing new techniques and strategies in their game play that generated fruitful results for team India.
Where the Captain of the Indian Junior Men Hockey team, Harjeet Singh was awarded the ‘Most Promising Player of the Tournament’, the Indian drag-flicker Harmanpreet Singh bagged the ‘Top Scorer of the Tournament’ Award along with the ‘Player of the Tournament’ title.
Speaking on the big win, the Indian Junior Men Hockey team drag-flicker Harmanjeet Singh said, “This tournament has helped the whole team in understanding each other even better and has given us the motivation as well as self confidence to take up even bigger challenges in the future. Apart from the individual efforts, the team focussed on playing as one, which helped us in stopping the attacks coming in from the opponents.”
He further added, “I did not think that I would be winning the ‘Player of the Tournament’ and the ‘Top Scorer of the Tournament’ title at the start of the tournament but finishing the tournament with such appreciation has really boosted my confidence and morale. Coach Harendra Singh and entire support staff has worked really hard on each one of us to build a team like this and their efforts have helped us emerge victorious in the tournament.”
