Prashant Kishor’s aura in the electoral field refuses to die down. With the Congress party hiring him for the Punjab and the Uttar Pradesh elections, the electoral wizard has now been hired to handle the Congress’ poll strategy for Uttarakhand. It is going to be a tough fight between the Congress and the BJP with BSP, SP and a few independents having pockets of influence. Small parties and independents are of utmost importance as the seats are almost equally divided between the BJP and the Congress.
Prashant Kishor is said to have met the Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat on Saturday night and is believed to have discussed the strategy for every district and constituency of the North Indian mountainous state. The Congress has been worried about the rising popularity graph of the BJP in the state. It was believed that demonetization had made the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi highly unpopular due to the hardships suffered by the people. However, a recent rally by PM Modi at the Parade ground saw an attendance of over 70,000 people. The Congress had expected the rally to be a flop show, but was rattled by the response the PM received.
Although Congress spin doctors said that the crowds were from ferried neighboring Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, they were only fooling themselves.
Prashant Kishor is a former UN Public health expert who successfully guided PM Narendra Modi’s campaign during the Gujarat assembly elections, the 2014 Lok Sabha elections and also Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s successful Bihar election. He is said to be revered across party lines and is now in great demand for his excellent political acumen.
