DIG Roopa’s explosive report exposing the violations of the prison manual for Sasikala seems to be only the tip of the iceberg.
Jail authorities again have abused their power to provide special privileges to Sasikala.
According to an RTI filed it shows that the prison manual stipulates normally 4-6 visitors (near relatives) for a prisoner.
But special privileges have been accorded to Sasikala when it comes to the number of visitors and their time of visit.
On July 11, 2017, 7 visitors of that only 3 were relatives, met her in the prison. Four of these seven visitors are not related to Sasikala.
Earlier, on July 5, 2017, Sasikala had six visitors. They were Venkatesh, TTV Dinakaran, Palani Velu, Ramalingam, Hussain and Vetrivel.
The prison manual, which says that a convict can be visited only once in 15 days, was violated again.
Sasikala was allowed visitors in jail within a span of a week.
On August 2, 2017, Pugalendi met Sasikala from 4.30 pm to 5.15 pm in prison. But visiting time allowed up to 5 pm.
Another interesting is that list of free items provided by prison authorities and list of items purchased by convicts.
As per the prison manual, facilities are provided by the jail authorities.
Food is free, but usually small items like toothpaste has to be bought inside jail.
But authorities say that Sasikala buys nothing.
