Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, daughter of Congress President Sonia Gandhi has accepted to be the lead campaigner on request of party leaders for the forthcoming Uttar Pradesh elections next year, informed state unit hief Raj Babbar.
“She has confirmed to campaign vividly for the UP elections. We will accordingly plan her campaigns according to her schedule,” said Babbar.
The decision to make Priyanka Gandhi Vadra the lead campaigner after a meeting held between senior party leaders chaired by Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, Priayanka and Babbar.
Priyanka in the last Lok Sabha elections had played a major role in making party’s strategies and decisions concerning to UP.
Babbar further added that her campaigns plans will be more clear only after the announcement of election schedule.
Other senior leaders of the party hinted that Priyanka will campaign in all the 403 constituencies of the state.
The party hopes that it will regain power in the state after 27 years as Priyanka is a popular face in the state.
Five states including Manipur, Goa, Uttarakhand, Punjab and UP will go to polls in February-March next year.
