As the Congress vice-president was attacking the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his demonetization move, thousands of Congress supporters and party-workers shouted anti-Modi slogan including ‘Modi Murdabad’ during a rally in poll-bound Uttar Pradesh’s Jaunpur.
As ‘murdabad’ slogans got louder, Rahul Gandhi requested the rally participants not to disrespect Narendra Modi as he is the Prime Minister of our country.
“We have differences of opinions with BJP and Modi but do not use the word murdabad or abusive words as Narendra Modi is our country’s Prime Minister.”
Continuing with his attack on Modi on demonetization said the PM has taken blood out of the veins from 99 per cent Indians with scrapping of Rs500 and Rs1000 notes during a rally in Uttar Pradesh.
Gandhi said that the Congress would have assisted any move taken by the government to flush out corruption and black money from India but the demonetization move was neither against corruption nor against black money.
The Congress vice-president said, “We want to wipe out corruption. We are ready to support all decisions of the government against corruption.”
The November 8 announcement by the Indian Prime Minister spiked 86 per cent of the country’s total currency and the move was against the poor people of India.
