In a major case of lawlessness, Rahul Gandhi’s car was attacked by a mob in Gujarat. Rahul was touring the flood-affected Banaskantha district of Gujarat when his cavalcade came under attack from a mob that pelted stones. The stones damaged the window panes of the car in which Rahul Gandhi was travelling. However, Rahul managed to escape unhurt, as he was sitting in the front of the car. But, some of the Special Protection Group (SPG) personnel who were travelling with Rahul got injured, since they were sitting in the back of the car. The injuries are minor though. Almost immediately, the Congress started blaming the BJP for the attack on Rahul Gandhi’s car.
Speaking about the development, Congress party spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said, “BJP goons attack Congress VP Rahulji’s car in Lal Chowk, Dhanera, Banaskanta, Gujarat. Disgusting and disgraceful. Windowpanes of Congress VP’s car broken in an organized attack by goons, security staff injured. BJP must know truth can’t be silenced.” However, BJP has denied any kind of involvement in the incident and said that it was an unfortunate incident. Gandhi’s visit is being termed a political move since he visited the parts from where 6 Congress MLAs have been elected. The MLAs themselves could not visit the area since they are in a luxury resort in Bengaluru.
