Mecca Masjid would see a Hindu by name AS Rao to deliver a sermon in praise of Prophet Mohammed during the Ramzan. The request is a real unusual one and the authorities concerned are examining the options available to them whether they could go ahead and allow him. In his request, Rao has promised that he would not be using un-parliamentary language. The applicant has also claimed that he is a worker of Telangana Rashtriya Samithi(TRS)
The Youm-Al-Quran is organised every Friday during the month of Ramzan which is been a tradition for ages. On this day religious leaders would address the gathering of thousands with their main focus on religious duties and the Muslim community
Majlise-Ittehadul Muslimeen and the Majlis Bachao Teh reek have addressed gatherings at the masjid for several years.
“We received the application few days ago. This is the first time we have received such a request. Rao has said he won’t say anything wrong. We are looking into it and our superiors will take a call,” a source said and also added that “He should obtain a no-objection certificate from the police.”
Deputy commissioner of police (south zone) V Satynarayana said, “It is an international holy festival.Permission is given to Muslim organisations, that too only in view of public safety and security .”
Since this is a sensitive issue which involves the religion, the officials are not willing to take any chances since even a single mistake can back fire on them.
