In yet another case of train derailment, 10 coaches of Ranikhet Express derailed last night in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. Railway officials said that train number 15014 Kath Godham-Jaisalmer Express derailed between Thayat Hamira-Jaisalmer stations at around 23:16 hours last night. Railway officials representing North West railways also said that no causalities or serious injuries have been reported in the derailment.
Soon after the derailment, a team comprising senior railway officials reached the spot to assess the situation and try to ascertain the cause of the derailment. A special train was also sent to the spot so that passengers could commence their onward journey.
Officials will also be looking for clues to any sabotage activities, as recent train derailments in Uttar Pradesh, in which many people were killed, is being alleged to have been caused by agents working for terrorist organizations. However, preliminary inquiries reveal that the derailment of Ranikhet Express was due to a fault in the track.
Officials are likely to conduct a detailed investigation at the spot in the coming days, based on which a clearer picture is expected to emerge.
