Former French diplomat Pascal Mazurier was accused of raping his three-year old daughter, but today he was acquitted by a Bengaluru court. The case was registered by Bengaluru police in 2012 when Mazurier was the Head of Chancery in the Consulate of France, Bangalore. During the same year, the Karnataka High Court had granted bail to Mazurier since there was no prima facie evidence against Mazurier. Even the DNA report submitted by the Forensic Science Laboratory in Bangalore did not provide any evidence of rape.
It may be recalled that Mazurier was accused of raping his three-year old daughter by his wife Suja Jones. According to her statement, she got to know about the incident from her domestic help. Based on the information, she filed a case against Mazurier. She had taken help from an NGO to register the complaint against her husband. At that time, she had also appealed to the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as well as External Affairs Minister SM Krishna to help her get justice.
