In a bewildering development, some cops in Bihar claimed that rats drank the alcohol that was confiscated during raids. Their reply came when the bottles of confiscated alcohol went missing. Not sure what to say, the cops thought about blaming the rats for the missing alcohol. It was quite a foolish excuse since liquor worth crores of rupees was seized and kept in the maalkhana (warehouse). Rats have shown to have a liking for alcohol, but it’s quite unbelievable that rats could have drunk all the liquor worth crores of rupees. The case of missing liquor came to light when Patna SSP Manu Maharaj was in the city to review the law and order situation in Patna, where the municipal elections are to be held.
When he inquired about the seized liquor, he was unashamedly told that the rats drank all the alcohol. Maharaj became extremely infuriated at this reply and he ordered that breath analyzer tests be conducted at random on policemen in every police station in the district. Following the SSP’s order, police stations in the district have now become extra careful about guarding seized liquor. Source said that rat poison is being used nowadays at police stations to protect the alcohol from rats. However, it is not very difficult to guess what actually happened to the missing liquor; it was either secretly sold by the policemen or they might have consumed it themselves or a mix of both possibilities.
