After so much of hype and expectation that has caught the attention of media for the past few weeks, the verdict is out.
Ravi Shastri has been appointed as the Head Coach for Indian Cricket team. He emerged better over notable applicants – Virender Sehwag and Tom Moody among others. The hunt for the appointment of Head Coach began after Anil Kumble, the previous coach who had a successful run resigned due to the differences with the Indian Captain Virat Kohli. Though there were rumours that he would apply again since the panel comprising Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman has requested him, the reality was a different case altogether. He did not apply.
Initially, when the news leaked out that Ravi Shastri has been appointed as the Head Coach, BCCI denied it but later confirmed the news. Shastri who was made Team Manager back in 2007 when India toured Bangladesh due to the sudden exit of Greg Chappell has also held the post of Team Director along with the coach Duncan Fletcher from August 2014 to June 2016.
In his current position, he is expected to stay put until 2019 World Cup.
Zaheer Khan is now the bowling coach, Rahul Dravid will done the role of batting consultant.
