Cyphers for the prestigious B-Boying championship will be held in India for the first time ever, to be judged by Red Bull BC One All Stars RoxRite, Hong 10 and Taisuke.
New Delhi, 23 April, 2015: The battle for the world’s premier 1-on-1 B-Boy World Championship comes to India for the first time ever this year, with the Red Bull BC One India Cypher. Held in over 90 locations around the world, Red Bull BC One Cyphers are conducted to determine one winner from each participating country, who then battle it out at six regional Finals and then finally, one World Final, to determine the foremost B-Boy in the world. The Red Bull BC One India Cypher will be held in Mumbai on 13th June, 2015.Registrations for the qualifiers open on 7th May, 2015.
Following an intensive round of qualifiers, 16 of the country’s best B-Boys will battle it out at the Red Bull BC One India Cypher for the chance to represent India at the Red Bull BC One Asia Pacific Final 2015 in Seoul, South Korea on 17th October. The Red Bull BC One World Final will be held in Rome this year, on 14th November.
The Red Bull BC One India Cypher will be judged by three members of the Red Bull BC One All Stars crew – namely RoxRite, Taisuke and Hong 10 – which is a crew of 11 internationally renowned dancers, who represent the best of the best in the B-Boying scene. Each of these B-Boys has himself participated in previous editions of Red Bull BC One, and together, they showcase the art of B-Boying in all of its many forms. RoxRite has also previously travelled to India in 2012 for the Red Bull BC One All Stars Showcase, which was held across Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Chennai.
What is Red Bull BC One?
Red Bull BC One is a 1-on-1 B-Boy World Championship that was established in Biel, Switzerland, in 2004. Within the scene, it is widely regarded as the foremost competition of its kind, and every year, thousands of dancers compete in Red Bull BC One Cyphers – preliminary, national and regional level competitions – across the globe, for a chance to be one of 16 finalists to compete at the World Finals and win the prestigious Red Bull BC One World Championship.
Over 90 Red Bull BC One Cyphers are conducted across the world, followed by six Finals – Red Bull BC One Latin America Final, Red Bull BC One North America Final, Red Bull BC One Middle East Africa Final, Red Bull BC One Western Europe Final, Red Bull BC One Eastern Europe Final and Red Bull BC One Asia Pacific Final – and ultimately, one World Final. One of the biggest aspects of Red Bull BC One is to support and strengthen the communities and to open opportunities to the dancers to develop their skills and perform on a global stage.
Who are the All Stars?
The Red Bull BC One All Stars is a crew of – presently 11 – internationally renowned dancers who represent the best of the best in the B-Boying scene across the globe. They serve as ambassadors of Hip Hop culture, with their main goal being to give back to the community and share their wealth of experience and skills with the younger generation of dancers. They travel the world to teach workshops, judge competitions and battle, continually challenging and pushing the limits of B-Boying.
RoxRite: In the world of B-Boying, there are few names as well-known and respected as RoxRite. The American has been dancing since the mere age of 12, and has since amassed an astounding number of titles, and continues to add to his tally every year. He already holds the most number one battle titles of any B-Boy today, including the Red Bull BC One title in 2011. RoxRite’s repertoire comprises a vast variety of moves, and as a strategic battle B-Boy, he takes everything into consideration, from footwork to power moves to freezes.
Taisuke: A young B-Boy from Japan, Taisuke has been breaking for over 15 years now. In this time, he has won various prestigious titles, including Battle Of The Year and Dance Alive Tokyo, and is now considered among the hottest B-Boys in the world. His dance style is based on an impressive array of foundation moves, a variety of unique top rocks and footwork combined with acrobatic power moves.
Hong 10: Hong 10 is a two-time Red Bull BC One World Champion, having won the title in 2008 and then again in 2013. The Korean B-Boy is recognised for being one of the most creative and strength-driven B-Boys in the world, and he’s also known for his extremely complex, clean and creative style, as well as his mastery of complex freeze combinations.
