The teachers and the students sang ‘Saare Jahan se Accha Hindostan Hamara’ followed by special prayers for the safety and prosperity of India.
This has been a tradition since 1947 to offer special prayers and it was followed this year too.
A cleric in the Madrasa Nadwa Maulana Khalid Ghazipuri Nadwi, a cleric however said that they did not sing the National Anthem.
Sindh is in Pakistan and we cannot pray for that country, the cleric also said.
If government removes the word, we will sing it proudly,” he added.
