A raid in a ex-colonel’s house in Meerut has unearthed an unbelievable 4 guns most of which were made in foreign countries and 50,000 cartridges along with animal skins of Leopard and Black buck, 8 deer skulls with antlers, other animal parts and 117 kgs of meat which is suspected to be of endangered Nilgai species deer apart from Rs.1 crore cash.
The raid comes just before Prime Minister’s meeting with the revenue officials to discuss about the various steps taken to bring out the black money which began with “Operation Clean Money”, how mauch tax collected post amnesty scheme “Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana (PMGKY)” apart from the discussion on the GST roll out.
The retired colonel is a 1971 war and and Operation Blue Star veteran and his son is a national-level shooter. It is expected that this is a part of poaching and international arms smuggling.
The raid was carried out for 17 hours jointly by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence. The persons were identified as Colonel Devendra Kumar Bishnoi and shooter Prashant Bishnoi.
Mr Bishnoi who is 72 has served for 12 years post retirement from the army with UP state services and his son has participated in the 60th National Shooting tournament scoring 527 out of 600.
