Cash prize to pour in for female pro-wrestler Sakshi Malik who opened an account for medals for India by winning a bronze medal in 58kilos-female wrestling category on August 17.
The bronze medalist will at least get Rs3.5 crores in form of cash prize from various organizations.
The Haryana government on Thursday announced that the state will award her with Rs2.5crore and a government job for making the state and country proud by winning the bronze medal.
Sakshi on Wednesday clinched the bronze medal in the 58kg category, in a sensational 8-5 victory over her rival Aisuluu Tynybekova of Kyrgyzstan.
Malik is also receiving cash awards from Railway Ministry and Sports Ministry. Sports Ministry will award her with Rs20 lakh under Olympic special award scheme. She is entitled for Rs10 lakhs as the Railway Ministry prior to tournament had announced cash awards of Rs10 lakh for any sport-person winning Olympic bronze medalist. The ministry had also announced Rs 75lakhs for winning gold and Rs50 lakhs for a silver medal.
The wrestler is also going to receive Rs20lakhs from Indian Olympics Associtation. The association this season for the first time announced cash awards for sports-person of Rs50lakhs, Rs 30lakhs and Rs20lakhs for gold, silver and bronze respectively.
