CHENNAI : On Friday, Income tax officials began searches on several premises belonging to Tamlnadu health minister C Vijayabhaskar and his relatives in Chennai and other districts in the wake of complaints that he was involved in cash distribution to voters in RK Nagar constituency where a by election is going to held on April 12.
Income Tax officials are also conducting searches on the premises of actor and All India Samathuva Makkal Katchi leader R Sarathkumar, former AIADMK legislator Chitlapakkam Rajendran and vice chancellor of Dr MGRMedical University S Geethalakshmi.
In recent time, Vijayabhaskar is the first minister to come under IT searches. The minister and his relatives are on the radar of the income tax department. We have received complaints against the minister of distributing cash to voters in RK nagar stated a senior IT Official.
Four complaints have been filed against the minister.
The searches are going on from 6 am at colleges and residential premises of the minister and his close relatives stated official.
Ten Income tax officials have been provided with four CRPF men who were searching Vijayabhaskar’s official residence on Greenways Road.
