Rakesh Ranjan Yadav alias Rocky Yadav, son of a suspended Janata Dal (United) leader Manorama Devi, has been given life imprisonment in the murder of Class 12 student Aditya Sachdeva. Two more people have been sentenced to life imprisonment along with Rocky Yadav. The punishment was announced today by a local court in Gaya. The judgment was pronounced by additional district and sessions judge (ADJ) Sachchidanand Singh. The two others who have been given life imprisonment are Rocky’s cousin Tenny Yadav and Devi’s bodyguard Rajesh Kumar. Rocky Yadav’s father Bindi Yadav has also been sentenced to five years in jail. A fine of Rs 1 lakh has also been imposed on Rocky.
Rocky, Tenny and Kumar have been convicted of various offences such as murder, causing hurt, and causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees under the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the arms act, which entails death penalty or imprisonment for life. It may be recalled that the murder had taken place last year on May 7. Rocky had killed Aditya just because he had overtaken his SUV. Aditya was driving a hatchback whereas Rocky was driving a Range Rover. Rocky’s lawyer Kaesar Sarfudd said that they are likely to challenge the local court’s verdict in the Patna High Court.
