The Rotary Club of Madras is organizing a T20 Cricket Tournament from January 10th to March 15th, 2015 which will be played over 10 weekends at DB Jain College, Thoraipakkam and Reddy’s Cricket Academy, Santhoshpuram, Chennai. Former India Captain, Krishnamachari Srikanth will inaugurate the tournament on Saturday (tomorrow), 10th at 6.30 am.
This tournament will be played in the T20 format. Totally 64 teams will participate. This will be divided into 16 groups of 4 teams each and each group will play the matches on a league basis and the winning team of each group will go to the knockout round. The Quarter Finals will be held on March 08, 2015, the Semi Finals on March 14, 2015 and the Finals on March 15, 2015.
The total number of matches will be 111 spread over 10 weekends. Entries for this tournament have already been received. Among the participants are leading corporates and other teams who are taking part on this tournament. In addition to various trophies, the winner and runner up teams will get Rs.1,00,000 and Rs.50,000 respectively as prize money.
Rotary Club of Madras which is the Premium Club in South India and the third oldest Club in India carries out various community service projects every year to benefit the less fortunate people of this country. The projects range from Sanitation Project, Vocational Service Training, Health Clinics, educational Scholarships, Providing better facilities for municipal school children, Senior Citizen’s home etc.
