While the congress and other opposition parties are accusing the BJP of utilizing the I-T Department for political gains, the reality is that Rs 11 crore has been recovered from various properties of Karnataka minister DK Shivakumar, who is accommodating 43 Gujarat Congress MLAs at his luxury resort in Bengaluru. Shivakumar was picked up today by the I-T department for questioning and raids were conducted at his various properties, during which cash amounting to a staggering Rs 11 crore has been discovered by tax officials. Income Tax officials said that Shivakumar has been staying at his Eagleton Golf Resort since last night and the tax officials caught him tearing various documents, which was probably being done to destroy evidence.
The raids were conducted today by I-T officials at around 60 locations in Bengaluru and Delhi, during which cash of around Rs 11 crore has been seized. There was so much cash that I-T officials had to use note-counting machines to count the notes. Shivakumar is the Energy Minister in Karnataka, which is being ruled by the Congress. Shivakumar is suspected to be involved in tax evasion and his name has come across as DKS in a diary that was earlier seized from another Congress leader. It is alleged that Shivakumar had transferred his wealth into real estate and jewelry after demonetization. Shivakumar is regarded as the troubleshooter in Karnataka and he has been giving refuge to the 43 Gujarat MLAs at his luxury resort in Bengaluru.
