Prime Minister Narendra Modi today conducted an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas of Bihar. He conducted the survey along with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. He also discussed the ongoing flood relief works being carried out in the state to help the affected people. After reviewing the flood situation in Bihar, PM Modi announced a flood relief package of Rs 500 crore for the state. Meanwhile, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, who is currently attempting to create an anti-BJP force at the national level, did not appear all that happy with PM Modi’s visit. He said that flood waters have already started receding, so there is not much use of conducting an aerial survey.
Lalu also blamed the floods on chief minister Nitish Kumar. Lalu said that Nitish’s engineers have cut the dams’ walls, which has resulted in the floods. Lalu further said that earlier Modi ji did not visit Bihar during earlier floods and did not give any money, but now that his government is in place in Bihar, he has announced Rs 500 crore relief package. PM Modi has assured the Bihar chief minister that the central government will provide all the support it can to deal with the floods. It may be recalled that more than 300 people have lost their lives in Bihar due to the floods.
