Shri Saibaba Sansthan Trust (SSST) has announced it on Saturday evening that it would be providing Rs.500 crore loans for the construction of Nilawande dam canals in Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra. A decision to this effect was taken in the SSSTs management council.
The temple authorities said the loan must be returned by the State Government in due course of time.
Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil who is the leader of opposition in Maharashtra Assembly has recently asked for the BJP led State Government to fasten the process in completing the work before monsoon.
The amount is 53% of the temple’s total earnings which has grossed Rs.1,009 cores collection in the last 4 years as donations from the devotees.
The work is expected to bring five lakh hectare under irrigation benefiting 185 villages which houses thousands of farmers. The work has been pending for the past 15 years to the woe of the residents and is now set to happen in a fast pace after the grant of loan. The dam is located near Akole in Ahmednagar district.
