Sacked AAP minister Kapil Mishra has started a hunger strike, calling it his ‘satyagraha’. He said that he will not eat anything until he gets answers to the sources of funds that were used to finance the foreign trips of various AAP ministers. He pointed out that AAP often claims that it is a poor party, and yet the party’s ministers were regularly going on foreign trips. He mentioned names of such ministers that included Sanjay Singh, Ashish Khetan, Satyendar Jain, Raghav Chadha and Durgesh Pathak. It may be recalled that Mishra was suspended after he claimed that he had seen Arvind Kejriwal accept Rs 2 crore cash from Satyendra Jain.
Meanwhile, as Mishra was holding the hunger strike at his residence, he was attacked by an AAP supporter. The attacker has been identified as Ankit Bharadwaj. Ankit repeatedly slapped Mishra, but was soon overpowered by other people present at the spot. Ankit said that he attacked Mishra since he was trying to destroy the party’s image. Ankit has been handed over to the police for further investigations. Mishra blamed the AAP for the attack, but said that he is unfazed and will continue with his hunger strike.
