With over millions of followers, an avid zest for the game and a growing infrastructure, Bangladesh is likely to emerge as the world’s next major force in cricket. Rise of the South Asian nation in the game of cricket has also opened doors for the domestic tournaments, the recent success of Bangabandhu-Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is a testament of that.
To facilitate the growth of 2019 edition and bridge the existing entertainment gap in the country, Akash DTH, a by-product of Beximco Group, has recently become the title sponsor of the special edition of BPL T20=2019, which has already begun on December 11.
This news was confirmed by Nizamuddin Chowdhury, CEO of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), at a formal press conference at the media block of the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in Mirpur. Beximco Communication CEO Faisal Hyder, and Bangabandhu-BPL Grounds and title sponsor right holders K-Sports CEO Fahad Karim, were also present on the occasion. Akash has purchased the rights of the title sponsor for the special BPL from K-Sports.
Beximco Communications CEO Faisal Hyder said, BPL T20-2019 is the first program in the country, which celebrates the centenary birth anniversary of the 1st President of Bangladesh, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and we are happy to stay with this special edition.
“We’re the first and biggest customer of the ‘Bangabandhu Satellite-1″ as of yet. Our Akash service is an exciting new brand and is the first one in Bangladesh. We’re trying to send the valuable service to our customers,” Hyder further told media during the press conference.
BPL T20 will soon be followed by the World Cup, so such tournaments are only going to enhance the performance of the cricketers.
Besides this, for better public viewing, Beximco Communications said that they have also arranged such programs in Dhaka, Chattogram and Sylhet, where they would broadcast matches of the BPL.
