Bihar now has a new Governor in BJP VP Satpal Malik.
Malik is the 38th Governor of Bihar and swearing in ceremony which took place at 10am at the Raj Bhawan was attended by CM Nitish Kumar, deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi, former CM Jitan Ram Manjhi, Bihar vidhan Sabha speaker Vijay Kumar Chowdhary and chief secretary Anjani Kumar Singh.
Since the elevation of former Bihar governor Ramnath Kovind as president, West Bengal governor Kesrinath Tripathi was holding additional charge of Bihar governor.
Malik is a former MP and was BJP’s national VP.
Satpal Malik’s name as the new governor nominee was announced by the centre on September 30.
Malik a native of Baghpat district in UP became an MLA for the first time in 1975.
He was Rajya Sabha MP twice between 1980-84 and 1986-89.
In 1989 he won and became a Loksabha MP.
In 1990 he became a Union minister in the centre. Before joining BJP he was in congress, Lok Dal, Samajwadi party and Janta dal.
