Psy’s “Gangnam Style” is no more the world’s most watched video on YouTube. The video whch was the frst to cross 1 Billion views prompting the software engineers by then to redo the algorithm to hold those views numbers had seen the record being shattered by See You Again featuring Charlie Puth.
YouTube which has seen atleast some 6 videos crossing 1 billion views after Gangnam Style was he first to reach that magical figure has announced that See You Again is now the site’s most-watched video, with more than 2.9 billion views. The figure is about 2 million more than the video for Korean rapper Psy’s 2012 smash Gangnam Style. Justin Bieber’s Sorry sits in third place and it trails by more than 250 million views behind the leaders.
Puth was surprised himself because he joined YouTube in 2007 with a sole aim of making a video that would hit 10,000 views but has gone past by over 20,000 times. He tweeted about this unbelievable record from his Twitter handle.
Puth also earned a congratulatory message from YouTube star Tyler Oakley, who called the feat “legendary & epic.”
See You Again was released in 2015 as a tribute to late Fast and the Furious star Paul Walker after his last movie in the franchise on Fast and Furious was released which never saw him alive at the time of its release.
