After seven militants wearing army uniforms were noticed In Gurdaspur, Punjab, security has been beefed up at Delhi Airport and Metro stations. As per intelligence inputs received from Amritsar, 7 militants have managed to get army uniforms that match those worn by Captain and Subedar rank army officials. They are now wearing these uniforms in order to provide an effective camouflage.
Officials suspect that they may be planning a terror attack. After the militants were seen, election officials deployed in Punjab for election duty have been put on high alert
A CISF official said that security has already been beefed up at Metro stations and Delhi airport in view of the upcoming Republic Day celebrations. Multiple layers of security has been created to prevent militants from gaining access to such vital facilities. After the 7 militants were seen roaming in Gurdaspur, security forces have been asked to be extra careful.
There have been some complaints from commuters due to increased security at Metro stations, but security officials insist that they do not have any choice, since they are only trying to protect people. Security at roads and railways has also been increased. Commando units have also been asked to be ready in case there’s a direct confrontation with the terrorists.
