Life has come full circle for Shankersinh Vaghela, as he has launched a new political party in Gujarat. Vaghela was earlier with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and later switched to the Congress. This year, he quit from Congress as well and now he has realized his dream of forming his own party. Earlier, there were speculations that he might join the BJP, but now he has finally revealed his cards by announcing the launch of an altogether new party. He has named the new political party as ‘Jan Vikalp’, which loosely translates into ‘an alternative party for the people’. The name appears to be just right because the new party will act as an alternative for people who may be unhappy with both BJP and Congress.
During the launch of the new party, Vaghela said that his new party is more like an alliance that would counter both BJP and Congress. He said that BJP is facing anti-incumbency factor in the state and his new party will provide an alternative to people. He made it clear that he does not have any secret deal with the BJP. He said that this is not the B team of BJP. He said that his new party will contest from all the 182 seats. Vaghela also described the agenda of his new party, which includes various issues such as GST, unemployment, women’s safety, etc. Vaghela said that he will launch the campaign from September 21.
