After taking flak from various quarters and being banned by domestic airline companies, Shiv Sena MP Ravindra Gaikwad got some relief when an Air India air hostess spoke in his defense. The air hostess said that Gaikwad had no intentions of hurting anyone and certainly not throwing anyone down the ladder. Explaining the chain of events, the air hostess said that Gaikwad was not willing to de-board the plane, as he wanted to speak to higher authorities. The problem was that a business class ticket was issued to Gaikwad when only economy seats are available on that route.
Gaikwad just wanted to inform the higher authorities about this discrepancy, but when duty manager Sukumar came, the conversation turned ugly and it prompted Gaikwad to turn violent. The air hostess said that she intervened as she was not scared of Gaikwad, who seemed like a nice person and was very polite to all the women staff. “I don`t think he was about to throw him (duty manager) off. He was just trying to pull that person up for his misdemeanor and put pressure so that senior officials come and hear out all his concerns,” she added.
