A 26-year-old man threw a shoe at Delhi Chief Minister and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal while he was addressing ‘Tijori Tod Bhanda Fod’ rally against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Demonetization move in Rohtak, Haryana.
The shoe hit the edge of the stage from where Kejriwal was addressing his supporters against demonetisation.
The shoe hurled towards Delhi CM when he attacked Modi over the demonetization move, terming it as ‘scam’.
“The shoe did not hit Kejriwalji,” said Navin Jaihind, a AAP senior leader from Haryana who was present during the incident.
The alleged shoe-thrower Vikas is a resident of Mori Makran village in Haryana’s Dadri. He was overpowered by AAP volunteers and handed over to the police.
A senior police official said that the man during questioning said that he was unhappy over Kejriwal’s views on the Sutlej-Yamuna Canal issue which went against Haryana’s interests.
“He is graduate and unemployed,” said a police personnel part of the questioning team.
The officer added that the alleged shoe thrower did not seem to be in sound mental condition while he was being questioned for his act.
Kejriwal soon after the attack accused Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s supporters for the act.
The Delhi CM tweeted, “”I said Modiji is a coward. Today, some of his supporters threw a shoe at me. Modiji, we can also do this but our values don’t permit us to,”
