After it was alleged that Smriti Irani’s husband, Zubin Irani, was involved in a land grabbing case in Madhya Pradesh, the Congress party has taken serious note of the matter and has demanded an enquiry. AICC in charge of communications department Randeep Surjewala said that it is expected from the BJP that it will follow its rajdharma and take action against Zubin Irani. Speaking about the development, Surjewala said, “We have seen media reports on alleged land grabbing by Union Minister Smriti Irani’s husband. The land belonged to the government. If there is any truth, it is unfortunate and the Madhya Pradesh government should order a thorough probe into it.”
Surjewala continued his assault on the BJP, saying that the party has resorted to hooliganism and is covering it up with slogans and activities around cow protection. When reminded that even the Congress has recently passed laws to protect cows in Karnataka, Surjewala said that such laws have been in existence since 1964. He said that the Congress government was just trying to protect and preserve such laws that call for cow welfare. He also lambasted the BJP government over the mandatory linking of PAN with Aadhaar. He said that such a move is an assault on the right to privacy of people.
