Many of us have faced problems with finding an Aadhaar enrolment center. This problem can soon be over, as the government is planning to open Aadhaar enrolment and updation centers at bank branches. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has made a request to all private and public sector banks to open Aadhaar enrollment and updation centers at their respective branches. Each bank has been asked to utilize at least one out of their 10 branches to offer Aadhaar facility. The government has made relevant changes to Aadhaar regulations to facilitate this.
Speaking about the new plan, Ajay Bhushan Pandey, CEO of UIDAI said, “We are asking all Scheduled Commercial Banks – both public and private – to set up Aadhaar enrolment and updation facility inside the bank branches…at least in one of ten branches by August-end.” Pandey said that there are currently around 1,20,000 bank branches and if one in every 10 starts offering Aadhaar facility, there would be 12,000 new Aadhaar enrollment and updation centers. He said that this would be very convenient for people. Aadhaar centers at bank branches will also ensure the highest level of supervision ad security.
