Hockey India congratulates Soundarya Yendala on her astounding achievement
New Delhi, 08 March 2015: Soundarya Yendala today completed her 100th appearance for the Indian National team during a match against Poland at the ongoing Hero FIH Hockey World League Round 2 (Women) at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium. With this she becomes the fifth player in the current team to have played in 100 or more matches for India. She joins captain Ritu Rani, Poonam Rani, Vandana Kataria and Deepika in this exclusive club.
Soundarya has been a key player for the Indian team over the past few years and has been instrumental in the side’s good performances. An excited Soundarya said, “It is a great honour to represent the country and to be able to do it for 100 times is an incredible feeling. However, the main focus right now is qualifying for the next round and eventually qualifying for the Rio Olympics, that is the ultimate dream of each and every player at the moment.“
Coming from a humble background, Soundarya worked her way up to the top through her hard work and perseverance. Today she is a very well established player in the Indian contingent.

Soundarya has played some memorable games for India and helped India win some crucial matches. This year is a very crucial for India and Soundarya will have to play an important role for the side to do well and qualify for the 2016 Olympics at Rio.
